Short Nebraska visit

Saturday after I got off work Brett, Jaris, and I headed up to Nebraska to see my grandma.  It's only about a 3 1/2 hour trip and Jaris did really well.  He didn't sleep at all which was a surprise to me considering it was during his nap time so he watched Toy Story and Cars and we hardly heard a peep from him :)

We got in town right around 6:30 so we met my family for dinner.  Once Jaris warmed up he was the entertainment for the evening.  It's so funny watching him when he realizes that he is making everyone laugh.  He really turns up the silliness and is such a ham but it really makes us all laugh!  He didn't have a nap and after dinner we all went back to my aunts house and he stayed of pretty late so needless to say he was pretty feisty by the time we went to sleep.

This is who Jaris gets his middle name from, my grandpa.  He is missed every day.

Jaris had a cough and runny nose when we left so that was nothing new but when he didn't eat his donuts the next morning...I knew he didn't feel well.  On top of that was whining a lot.  We met my cousins for lunch and again JT didn't eat a single bit.  Toward the end he started grabbing his tummy saying it hurt and he was sweating.  I held him and rocked him for a little bit and within 2 mins he was knocked out.

Kept a hold of his motorcycle though :)
We left to go see my grandma who is in a rehab facility after leaving the hospital.  She'll be there until she is strong enough to go back to the hospital and start chemo.  I was really hoping JT wasn't going to be grumpy when we got there, I knew he didn't feel well but we hardly get to see my gram so I wanted her to see the fun and happy side of him.  Well when he got there he was like a whole new kid! Running around, laughing, again being the center of attention!

After catching up and we got back on the road again and headed home.   Jaris slept the majority of the way and although I thought he was feeling better, when we got into our driveway...he threw up.  After a bath and a little bit of dinner he was feeling better.

Football and family snuggles :)

Fun weekend!

We haven't slowed down since we got back from Destin.  I started my new job on Monday and I couldn't be happier.  I'm really looking forward to being a fan again and actually attending the games instead of working them.  Going to sporting events with Brett and Jaris is something I love doing and I can't wait for the season ahead!

1st day of a new job = a happy momma!
While we were in Destin my grandmother became very ill so initially we were planning on heading to Omaha to see her this past weekend.  After some complications we decided to wait until this weekend, which worked out because I was running a team triathlon!

Friday we took Jaris to see the movie Planes!  I was little disappointed in the movie, not as much action as I thought but JT liked it and did really well.  We stopped to play at the park first!
Saturday Jaris woke up with a fever and it got even higher after his nap.  We took it easy that night and watched movies.  His fever went down but he has a pretty rough cough.  Gotta love Lawrence allergies.

Sunday I woke up bright and very early to head to Manhattan for a sprint triathlon with my sister in law and a friend from high school.  Samie swam the 500 meters and kicked butt! She was the first woman out and the 3rd overall!  Stephanie biked 12 miles and also did great!  I ran the 5k and did pretty well for myself!  Last time I did a 5k I ran it in 36 mins...yikes.  I cut 6 mins off my time since then so I was happy with 30 mins.  And that's after all the terrible eating I did in Destin and only running 2 miles at most before the race!

That's all for now, we will be in Nebraska this weekend :)

Destin 2013

The big family vacation came and went way too fast!  All the families (27 people total from littlest to oldest) arrived either Friday and Saturday, our flight left Saturday and Jaris was an excellent flyer.  An iPad and Toy Story 2 helped but good nonetheless through 2 flights.

We got in pretty late so we grabbed dinner and went straight to the condo, did a little swimming in the pool and then the ladies headed to Wal-Mart for grocery shopping.  That place was busy a madhouse!  I've NEVER seen a Wal-Mart so busy, it looked like the end of times was near and people were trying to stock up.  Crazy busy week for Destin!

We wanted to get on the beach early the next day because it happened to be the "tax free" weekend as well so we wanted to get some shopping done later that afternoon!  JT liked being in the ocean but loved being in the sand.  Digging, building, playing, whatever...he loved it.  He liked being at the pool with Kaden and Brooks most of all :) Most of our days were spent at the beach/pool, going up for lunch and a nap, and heading back down to the beach.  Unfortunately a little virus hit and about 7 of us got sick, myself included.  I didn't have it as bad as some others but it took about a full day for the sick ones to recover.

One thing Brett and I really wanted to do was rent jet skis.  My family and some of Brett's family wanted to go as well so we all went and it was totally worth it!  1) the waves were waaay better than the lake, got some good air a few times.  2) we came across a pack of dolphins!  It was amazing, there were about 10 or so and they were just swimming along side of all of us.  Pretty awesome!

Toward the end of the week we went across the street to a putt putt/go-cart place.  They have little kid rides, arcade games, ect.  Jaris was dying to ride the go-carts or race cars as he called them however he was about 2 inches short of the minimum but we waited in line away and kept our fingers crossed.  He had already been turned away from the water boat ride so I was worried but he LOVES cars and I would've felt terrible if we didn't try.  I thought for sure they weren't going to let him on but to my surprise they did!  He LOVED it!  For my 2 year old that was living his dream!  He rode twice and talked about it the rest of the night and the next day.

Family pictures took place on the last day and that was it!  It was really nice to wake up, hit the beach, relax all day, not have to worry about a thing, and being with my family...we were sad to leave.  Definitely looking forward to next year!
