We are in the full swing of summer and it's crazy hot - 3 digit temps for the majority of the summer! Landry finished kindergarten and is ready for 1st grade. Jaris had his last day of elementary school and I may have shed a few tears. The day started with their school assembly where they received their individual awards - Jaris earned the sunshine award (spreading sunshine and happiness wherever he goes). Then they got to do their final walk through. All the classrooms lined the halls and the 5th grade parents lined the last hallway to the gym...the 5th graders walked through the halls and said their goodbyes (insert tears). We made signs and a surprise "fat head" for him, it was a big hit and he loved it. I know every parent says this but it feels like he just started kindergarten and I have no idea how we got here so fast. Middle school...I'm not ready to have a middle schooler yet!
We finished out baseball the last week of June. Jaris had a great season as our main second baseman. He played killer defense all season and his hitting improved! I love watching him play baseball, it's my favorite.
We quickly flew to Kansas for Trey and Chloe's wedding. Jaris and Landry were in the wedding. It was a HOT Kansas outdoor wedding but it was beautiful and so fun to see everyone from our Veritas days. Brett was very close with this group of kids and now they are all married and grown up! On that same trip, Brett and I celebrated our 14 year wedding anniversary doing what we did on our 1st...eating Pizza Shuttle. There's no better way to celebrate.
Both kids were loaded with summer camps. Baseball camp and football camp for JT. VBS, farm camp, soccer camp, and cheer camp for Landry.
We headed back to Kansas for the 4th of July and stayed with the Ballard's at their new house. We had a great time hitting up the lake every day and my parents and sister joined as well. The kids fished, swam, tubed, tubed, and tubed. We brought Scout with us and he couldn't stay out of the water. We always love our time in Kansas but it's never long enough to visit everyone!
At this moment, school starts in 16 days. This summer has FLOWN by. We filled our slower days with swimming and indoor fun. All the fall things are starting to happen, football practices have started, cheer practice has started and we are getting ready for BTS shopping. We love our summers and time home with the kids but we are ready for all this next year will bring!
