NINE

Happy Quarantine 9th Birthday!

This will be a birthday to remember for sure. The entire world is currently quarantined in their homes due to Covid 19 aka the coronavirus. We've been stuck here for about 45 days or so...only able to go to the store. School has been canceled for the remainder of the year and so we've been homeschooling since spring break. It started off a little rocky but we've got the hang of things now and we've been cruising through it ever since! Sports have also been cancelled and we are for sure missing baseball season right now. Such a weird time in the world, especially to celebrate a birthday!

Jaris had such a great year of growth. This summer he spent almost a month away from me, up in Kansas doing all the sport camps and spending time with family. He loves those camps and the time he gets with his friends. Keeping in touch with his Kansas friends is super important to him. He played fall baseball this year (thank goodness we did since spring ball has been cancelled) and did great as our second baseman. He loves his position and loves when he gets the action. It was also the first season of playing kid pitch. Hitting was a little bit of a struggle/learning curve. It is a much slower pace than coach pitch but he learned a lot and had a great season. Basketball season was great, we love the team we are on. He played point guard and really stepped up to lead the team. He had a KILLER football season...absolutely awesome. I love watching him play all sports but football is my favorite. He usually scored two or more TD's a game and was usually the only one who scored for his team. He just has that instinct on the field and we love watching it. At the end of the season Prosper had an all star game and he was picked from his team to play...he was pumped.

We had an eye opening school year. Jaris switched to a brand new neighborhood school and he had an amazing teacher. We love her. With her help we had JT's eyes tested and he was diagnosed with 7 different eye problems. 6 of them are related to tracking and 1 involves how the information seen is sent to the brain. Major wake up call for us as parents and so helpful for JT. He has started eye therapy once a week and got a cool new pair of glasses to help with tunnel vision (and all of these would help explain why his baseball hitting stats weren't so hot). So a big help and he's make huge strides with the extra help. He's done so great with his therapy and glasses, super proud of how he's handled it.

Jaris, 9 years with you has been an absolute blessing. Watching you grow every year, hit new goals, learn new things, learn from your mistakes, and navigate life is more rewarding then I ever knew possible. We are so proud of how you tackled new challenges this year. You might not know it but you help us everyday to become better parents and people. We learn from you as much as you learn from us. We are forever grateful God picked us to be your parents. We love you to the moon and back buddy.
